Overview of March 2018: Economy at a standstill
The economic diffusion index (DI) in March 2018 was 50.4, up 0.1 point from the previous month, and an improvement for the first time in two months. The domestic economy came to a standstill due to raw material prices remaining at a high level, in addition to a decline in housing construction, while there was strong export and positive year-end demand.
Future outlook: Gradual expansion
Despite concern over the impact of worldwide growing trade protectionism, the domestic economy is expected to continue to expand slowly with the corporate sector remaining strong.
